Important roadworks information
M1 northbound between junction 9 and junction 11A – patching and safety barrier repairs
I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out patching and safety barrier repairs on the M1 northbound between junction 9 and junction 11A. This will ensure the M1 continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.
We plan to complete this work overnight on Saturday 9 May 2026. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 northbound between junction 9 and junction 11A and divert traffic as follows:
- Drivers planning to divert should exit the M1 at junction 9
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A5183
- Continue along the A5183 onto the A505
- Follow the A505 to the A5 Thorn Roundabout
- From Thorn Roundabout, follow the A5 eastbound
- Rejoin the M1 at junction 11A
Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution.
