M1 junction 9 northbound entry slip – electrical inspection works
I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out electrical inspections on the M1 junction 9 northbound entry slip. This work is needed to maintain and repair the equipment we use to monitor our network and manage traffic flows.
We plan to complete this work overnight on Monday 18 May 2026. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 junction 9 northbound entry slip and divert traffic as follows:
- Drivers planning to access the M1 northbound will be diverted onto the A5183
- Traffic will then be directed to join the M1 southbound
- Drivers will exit the M1 at junction 8
- At junction 8, drivers will follow the A414
- At Phoenix Gateway Roundabout, drivers will take the fourth exit
- Drivers will then rejoin the M1 northbound to continue their journey
Please note emergency vehicles will not have access through the works.
