Dear Customer
I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out essential resurfacing on the M1 junction 8 northbound exit slip road. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother, and better-defined road surface.
We plan to complete this work for one night on Tuesday 27 January 2026. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather conditions permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 northbound junction 8 exit slip and divert traffic as detailed below:
- If you’re leaving the M1 at junction 8 (Breakspears interchange), stay on the M1 northbound and continue to junction 9 (Friars Wash interchange).
- Exit the M1 at junction 9, then rejoin the M1 to travel southbound.
- Continue southbound back to junction 8 (Breakspears interchange) to leave the M1.
