M1 southbound junction 7 & 8 entry and exit slip road – resurfacing
I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing on the M1 southbound junction 7 and junction 8 entry and exit slip roads. Once completed, drivers will experience a smoother, safer road surface
We plan to complete this work overnight on Saturday 4 October 2025 between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we’ll need to close the M1 southbound junction 8 entry and exit slip roads and divert traffic as follows:
- Drivers planning to exit at junction 8 should continue southbound on the M1 to junction 6
- At junction 6, take the slip road to turn around and head northbound on the M1 towards junction 8
- Drivers travelling from Hemel Hempstead along the A414 to join the M1 southbound at junction 8 should travel eastbound on the A414 towards Park Street Roundabout
- At Park Street Roundabout, take the third exit to join the A405 North Orbital Road which leads to junction 6. Drivers can then re-join the M1 northbound towards junction 8.
