The Hertfordshire (Temporary Closing of various roads in Markyate, Great Gaddesden and Tring) order 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-
- that length of Buckwood Road, Markyate from its junction with High Street south westwards and westwards to its junction with Parkfield, a distance of approximately 236m.
An alternative route will be via High Street, Pickford Road, Corner Wood and Parkfield.
- that length of Markyate Street Lane, Great Gaddesden from its junction with Puddephats Lane south westwards to its junction with Gaddesden Row, a distance of approximately 795m.
An alternative route will be via Markyate Street Lane, Beechwood Lane and Gaddesden Row.
- that length of B4635 Western Road, Tring from its junction with the Christchurch Road roundabout south westwards to its junction with Miswell Lane, a distance of approximately 308m.
An alternative route will be via B4635 High Street, B486 (Brook Street/Wingrave Road/ New Mill Terrace/Wingrave Road), B488 Icknield Way and B4635 (Aylesbury Road/ Western Road).
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
