Please find attached the details regarding a request for help from the Markyate and Flamstead Care Group. This consists of the Care Bus which you will have seen in evidence dropping off folk in Markyate after a trip out for lunch or shopping, plus a phone line to get help with transportation for vital hospital visits and medical appointments.
The Committee is in desperate measures at the moment as there will be insufficient people to run the service unless some people come forward by their May AGM. If no one steps up to help, then the bus will be mothballed and the service will ebb away.
The Care Bus is used weekly to go to the supermarket and it is such a popular service that it is full every week and there is a waiting list. The same applies for the weekly lunch outing. As we are all getting a bit older, there will come a time when we will also want to hop on that bus and be chauffeur driven to Sainsburys. Many elderly people can no longer drive, so such life lines bring great joy and help to avoid social isolation.

Both Markyate and Flamstead need to help to breathe new life into the Care Group so this volunteer led and extremely valuable service is not lost forever.
Personally I think wearing a Chauffeur’s cap is rather fetching – and to be encouraged!
