I am writing to update you on the upcoming road closure on Markyate High Street, scheduled from 25 February to 10 June, to facilitate essential sewage works. The road closure times are shown below:
Monday to Friday: 08:00–22:00
Saturdays: 09:00–16:00
Sundays: 10:00–16:00
Please note that there will be a suspension of the closure from 1 May to 2 June 2026.
To maintain service coverage during the closure, temporary bus stops will be located on the A5183 at the junction with London Road for routes 34 and 46, as shown in the attached image below.
Unfortunately, the cost of operating a dedicated shuttle service is beyond our current budget. However, the HertsLynx service will continue to operate 7 days a week, ensuring residents have access to alternative transport throughout the duration of the works; information on how to book a HertsLynx journey will be posted at the relevant bus stops.
