National Highways plan to carry out resurfacing and traffic detection loop renewal work on the M1 southbound between junctions 10 and 9. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
We plan to complete this work over two nights starting on Saturday 8 November 2025. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 southbound between junctions 10 and 9, junction 10 entry slip road, the A1081 lane closure and fast link closure and divert traffic as follows:
Drivers should leave the M1 southbound at junction 10 (Pepperstock Interchange) and return northbound to exit at junction 11.
And take the 1st exit onto the A505 and follow the A505 into Dunstable
At the crossroads with the High Street, take the left turn onto the A5183 and continue on London Road towards junction 9 and re-join the M1 southbound.
