This Sunday (29 September) Dacorum Borough Council will be hosting 50 Fest, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dacorum.
The free community event will be taking place in Hemel Hempstead town centre from 11am – 5pm.
The highlight will be a fantastic parade, bringing a carnival feel to the town. The parade will be led by local community groups and residents and will feature elaborate handmade puppets, especially chosen for their connection to animals and nature in the Dacorum area, including Red Kites and Foxes.
Residents are being offered a unique opportunity to join in the parade by signing up to a free costume making workshop on Saturday 28 September. Participants will be fully supported by artists in making their costume creations which they will wear at Sunday’s parade. In Market Square, there will be a variety of local market, food and drink and community stalls to explore, and tables to sit down and enjoy some refreshments. There will also be a wide range of entertainment and activities on offer, including a BMX stunt show, acrobatic street dancers, Morris dancers and high ropes.
In the Water Gardens, there will be activities including inflatables, a silent disco experience, fairground games and a quiet meditation space. The Friends of the Water Gardens will also be offering guided tours at 11.30am and 2pm.
Hemel Hempstead Business Improvement District (BID) will be hosting their fantastic Hullabaloo alongside the event, offering even more entertainment and activities to enjoy in Hemel town centre.
