The annual toad patrols are beginning in earnest from now – subject to the right temperature at sunset.
We shall be patrolling on Chequers Hill, River Hill , Singlets Lane and Hollybush Lane if we have enough volunteers.
It would be massively helpful if you could be mindful that we may be on these roads. Should you be unsure who we are – we are the ones dressed mildly ridiculously in hi viz, head torches, clutching a bucket and staring intently at the road!
There will be signage too but if you could slow down and also look out for toads sitting in the road – that would be wonderful! They move slowly so it’s possible to avoid them – if safe to do so.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and we will do our best not to antagonise anyone in our efforts to rescue the toads.
If you are interested in becoming a patroller do please get in touch. (DM me). Full training is provided. Patrols occur at sunset for an hour or 2 depending on the weather. The more help we have, the more amphibians we can save!
