Important roadworks information
M1 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads between junctions 9 and 12 – resurfacing
I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing work on the M1 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads between junctions 9 and 12 – resurfacing. This will ensure the M1 continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.
We plan to complete this work over three shifts starting on the Thursday 12 February 2026. We will work between 10pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads between junctions 9 and 12 and divert traffic as follows:

| M1 southbound junction 9 exit slip closure | Thursday 12 February 2026 | Traffic will be diverted to junction 8 and return to junction 9 (Map 1) |
| M1 northbound junction 10 exit and entry slip closures | Friday 13 February 2026 | Traffic will be diverted to junction 9 and return to join M1 northbound to junction 10 (Map 2) Traffic will be diverted to junction 11 and return to back to exit the M1 at junction 10 (Map 3) |
| M1 northbound junction 12 exit and entry slip closures | Monday 16 February 2026 | Traffic will be diverted to junction 11A and return to enter M1 northbound (Map 4)
Traffic will be diverted to junction 13 and return to exit M1 at junction 12 (Map 5) |
Please not emergency vehicle access will be allowed with caution.
