M1 northbound junctions 9 (Flamstead) to 10 (Luton) – resurfacing
Dear Customer
I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing on the M1 between junctions 9 (Flamstead) and 10 (Luton). Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
We plan to complete this work over five nights from Monday 8 December 2025. We will work between 9pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M1 northbound between junctions 9 and 10, and divert traffic as follows:
- Leave the M1 at junction 9 and join the A5183 northbound.
- Stay on the A5183 until you reach the A505 junction.
- Turn onto the A505 and follow it to M1 junction 11.
- From junction 11, rejoin the M1 northbound to continue your journey.
- If you’re heading to Luton Airport, join the M1 southbound from junction 11 and exit at junction 10 for the airport.
