Progress update: M1 junctions 10 to 13 scheme
I’m writing to update you on the upgrade work we’re doing to improve safety on the M1 between junctions 10 and 13 in Bedfordshire.
Our work is progressing well, and we’ve completed the installation of the new central reservation concrete barrier between junctions 10 (Luton airport) and 11a (Charlton Interchange, Houghton Regis). As a result, we will shortly be reopening this 5.7 miles (9.2km) section by removing the roadworks and the temporary speed limit.
We’re using existing overnight road closures (between the hours of 10pm and 5am) to safely remove the roadworks between junctions 10 and 11a on the northbound carriageway from last night Thursday 12 September. We’ll begin removing roadworks on the southbound carriageway between junctions 11a and 10 from Monday 16 September. The roadworks between junction 10 to 11a, should all be removed by Friday 20 September. These road closures will have fully signed diversion routes in place.
